Event Information

The event on August 20th is at the Maeda Arena (マエダアリーナ), also known as the Shin Aomori-ken Sogo Sports Park (新青森県総合運動公園). The station we recommend going to is Shin-Aomori (新青森) which is on the Ou line and on the shinkansen (bullet train). From there you take the bus. You can also go to Nonai station (野内). From there you can take a taxi. It's about a 10-15 minute ride. For directions by train to the station, please use this useful website:

If you take the bus from Shin-Aomori station, go to the East Exit. Get on the Aomori Shuttle de Route bus Nebutan (青森シャトルdeルートバス「ねぶたん号」) and get off at Kenritsu-Bijutsu-kan Mae(県立美術館前). We recommend showing your sumo ticket to the driver to make sure you are on the correct bus. It's about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop.

The event begins at 9:00am and finishes at 3:00pm, but you can arrive at any time. Here are the details (times are approximate):

9:00am - open practice for wrestlers

12:00pm - lower division matches, comic sumo performance, drums

1:30pm - upper division ring entrance ceremony and matches

3:00pm - bow-twirling ceremony, end of event

No shoes are allowed on the 1st floor. Bring your own slippers. You can buy them in convenience stores.

Ringside and Box are sitting on the floor and come with souvenir cushion.

Children 3 years old and younger don't need a ticket if they don't need their own seat, but only on the 2nd floor. Children 5 years old and younger may not sit in Ringside at all.

Food sets are available for purchase in advance. You can add them to your cart along with your seat ticket. Food sales on the day of the event will be limited, so we advise buying in advance if you want to eat at the event. These sets do not include a ticket to enter the event.

Ticket prices include our service fee (1,600 yen for entry tickets, 500 yen for Sets) and payment fees (about 3% of ticket price).
